The West Bengal unit of the party will hold a meeting on Thursday with Sunil Bansal, the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who is considered the mastermind of the victory in Uttar Pradesh, to chalk out a strategy. Upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP had made huge gains in the last Lok Sabha elections when it won 18 of the state’s 42 Lok Sabha seats. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) had won 22 seats.

As the core committee meets on Thursday, each member will be given a responsibility, apart from what the party wants them to do.

“We met in Delhi during the Parliament session where JP Nadda addressed the MPs and also the in-charge and co-in-charge of the state. While strategy could not be discussed in that group, it was decided to hold another meeting in the state to take on the TMC,” the source said.

The party is also preparing for the panchayat elections. According to leaders, the party cadre had witnessed large-scale violence and many people had to leave the state and take refuge in neighboring states after winning the last panchayat elections. The party is going to prepare a strategy for such a situation as well.

18 leaders have been invited for this meeting. Sources said Mithun Chakraborty is also among those invited. Sources said the meeting is also likely to discuss the counter-strategy in case any central government scheme is blocked from being implemented in the state.

Sources said that this meeting, which is purely organizational in nature, will also decide the course of action for the party to reach out to the voters.

“We already had 18 seats and have now won 77 seats in the assembly. Unlike previous occasions, the organization has a foundation here. We will aim to win seats and hope to make inroads in seats won by TMC and others in 2019. The strength of our cadre will ensure that the state contributes to the return of PM Modi,” said a senior party leader. ,
