Gaur Found Killed In Gudalur Forests | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Udhagamandalam: The Gudalur division of forest department has registered a case against unidentified people for poaching a gaur in O’Valley range of forest on April 11.
Venkatesh Prabhu, district forest officer, Gudalur division, said the gaur was found dead with hunting marks on Thursday. “A sharp object, which pierced through its neck, was used to kill the animal.When our team came across the carcass, its back portion was eaten by a carnivore, which had left scratch and bite marks on it.”
A postmortem was conducted the same day. “Initially, we suspected that the animal was shot dead. But no pellet was found in the carcass during the autopsy,” the official said.
He said they had launched an investigation into the incident.
