Panaji: Water Resources Department (WRD) has asked consumers to book water tankers To exercise caution and ensure that tankers have a permit by the ‘Ground Water Officer’ pasted on their windshields.
In its notice to the public, the WRD said that the demand for water is high due to summer and people often book water tankers to meet it. The notice states that the ground water authorities in each taluka issue permission for such tankers, specifying the source of water and the purpose of its supply as per the Ground Water Regulation Act, 2002.
The department said that before using the water from the tanker, it should be ensured that it fulfills certain criteria like permission from the ground water officer.
‘Tankers should have steel tanks, certificate of health services’
The water tanker must have a stainless steel water tank, and must be certified by the Directorate of Health Services and the Ground Water Officer. The source of water should be treated water source at PWD filling points,” the notice said.
The department has also said that WRD executive engineers Nazareth Vaz for Pernem, Bardez and Tiswadi, KP Naik for Bicholim and Sattari, Krishnakant Patil for Ponda and Canacona, Rajan Kamble for Salsette and Mormugao, and Krishnakant Patil for Quepem, Ground water officers have been appointed for Sanguem and Dharbandora.
The WRD has appealed to citizens to answer any queries regarding water tankers to these ground water officials.
