‘Increased use of tobacco is increasing the cases of bladder cancer’. Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: A preceptorship program on Bladder Cancer was organized at Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Cancer Center and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (MPMMCC & HBCH), Varanasi on Saturday.
The program was inaugurated by Professor S Pradhan, Director and conducted by Uro Oncology Disease Management Group under the supervision of Dr. Akhil Kapoor, Medical Oncologist and Officer-in-Charge, MPMMCC.
Dr. Kapoor said that May is celebrated as Bladder Cancer Awareness Month and it is an important sign that needs to be talked about because bladder cancer is mainly due to increased consumption of tobacco and other related products and sedentary lifestyle. Cancer cases are increasing.
According to Dr Kapoor, over 1,000 patients with bladder cancer are expected to visit MPMMCC, Varanasi in 2022 and the number is growing rapidly. It is expected to more than double in the year 2023. Bladder cancer treatment can be very effective if the disease is detected at an early stage.
The program witnessed key insights from Dr Shashikant Patne, Dr SN Singh, Dr Shashank Saini, Dr Rahul Rai, Dr Himanshu Pandey, Dr Lincoln Pujari, Dr Amit Kumar from Patna, Dr Pooja Gupta, Dr Bipinesh Sansar, Dr BK Mishra, Dr Anuj Gupta, Dr Lalit Agarwa of BHU, Dr Prashant G, Dr. Manikandan, Dr. Pooja Pandey, Dr. Shreya ShuklaDr. Divya, Dr. Kunal Vinayak, Dr. Somnath Dey and Discretion Sharma is from Mumbai who supports Bladder Cancer India – a support group for bladder cancer patients and caregivers. The preceptorship program is supported by Mumbai based Indian Oncology Cooperative Network (ICON Trust) and Praveen Jagtap from ICON Trust was also present.
