India Post to soon join ONDC platform, signs MoU with CAIT

India Post on Tuesday entered into an agreement with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Tripta Technologies to provide logistics support to small traders, and outlined plans to onboard ONDC platform as a logistics service provider.

India Post An MoU was signed with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Tripta Technologies in the presence of Minister of State for Communications Devsingh Chouhan on Tuesday.

The MoU facilitates operationalization of ‘Bharat eMart’ portal, which will facilitate pick-up of consignments from merchants’ premises and ensure doorstep delivery of consignments across the country.

An official release said that an estimated eight crore traders associated with CAIT would benefit from the agreement.

India Post has entered into similar agreements in the recent past with regional centers of Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) to provide pick-up and delivery of parcels at the consignees’ doorsteps. Can be done ,

India Post will also soon onboard itself Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform is being developed by the Ministry of Commerce as a logistics service provider.

Chouhan said that the Department of Posts has transformed itself with the passage of time and demands of the public and with the advent of technology and inclusion of new services, India Post has become a modern service provider. Today, it provides banking, insurance and last-mile delivery of benefits of several welfare schemes run by the government to every village through its network of 1.59 lakh post offices.

The Minister expressed hope that the MoU with CAIT and Bharat E-Mart will provide necessary logistic support to the small traders of the country, thereby increasing their business and employment opportunities.
