Interstate racket of breaking trucks for spare parts busted, six arrested | Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: The Crime Branch (DCB) of Rajkot Police has busted a major inter-state racket of truck theft and demolition to sell their parts and arrested six people, including two masterminds, who are natives of Rajasthan.
The police have also seized trucks and spare parts worth Rs 4.5 crore.
The racket was busted by DCB officials a few days ago during routine checking of scrap godowns on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway. Some warehouses are dismantling saw trucks as well as vehicle parts such as engines, chassis, gearboxes, fuel tanks, radiators, tires and batteries. The police grew suspicious as the scrap dealer could not produce any documents related to the truck purchase and failed to answer questions satisfactorily.
The DCB team caught some of them who disclosed about the racket being run by Ishwar Jat (40) and Kishanlal Gadri (26), who are residents of Bhilwara and Chittorgarh districts respectively.
The police also came to know that complaints of 48 truck thefts have been registered in different police stations of Rajasthan. The police then arrested Jat, Gadari, a local scrap dealer—Jamal Mehtar, Wasim Alis Bachho Sama and Imtiaz Agwan—and the driver Lalit Devmurari from Junagadh.
“Investigation revealed that Gadri and Jat, both of whom are facing multiple complaints of cheating in Rajasthan, used to approach truck owners and sign agreements to hire their vehicles for transportation. They used to pay these owners Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh per month. They engaged Devamurari as a driver, who took these trucks to the accused scrap dealers, where they were dismantled and various parts and components were sold,” YB Jadeja said.Police Inspector, DCB.
During interrogation of both, it was found that they have 60 truck owners in Rajasthan. Jadeja said Mehtar has 15 more cases of cheating in different police stations of Saurashtra, Wasim has six offenses including attempt to murder and Imtiaz has also been booked for cheating in Mundra.
