Jaipur earthquake: When Rajasthan’s Jaipur was shaken by an ‘unexpected’ earthquake. Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: The city of Jaipur, located in seismic zone II, is not geographically in a high-risk earthquake zone. The final seismic zoning map released by the Ministry of Urban Development placed the Pink City in the low damage risk zone.
According to experts, the presence of 200,000 square kilometers of desert in 12 districts of the state acts as a natural cushion, which protects the city from earthquakes.
But quite the contrary, not one, not two, but three tremors were felt in Jaipur on Friday morning – all within 16 minutes.
The first quake, which occurred at 4.09 am, prompted people in the city to come out of their homes into the streets. Its intensity was measured at 4.4 on the Richter scale.
In the walled areas including Chandpol Bazar, Badi Chaupar, Johri Bazar, people took to the streets in panic.
In hospitals, people who were caring for their patients were moved out of lobbies and other areas where they were sleeping.
Some people still slept in their homes, perhaps they did not get a clue of it. The earth shook a second time at 4.22 am to jolt them out of bed and create panic. Its intensity was measured at 3.1 on the Richter scale.
People are no longer suspicious as to why things around them are moving. Fearing for their lives, they ran outside.
By this time some were considering returning to their homes.
Three minutes later, at 4.25 am, he felt the tremors again. Recently the city was hit by a 3.4 magnitude earthquake.
People were no longer in a hurry to go back to their homes, eager to wait outside for a while longer.
After a long period of time without any earthquakes or aftershocks, they returned to their homes.
