Poonch District Magistrate Yasin M Choudhary has banned the display of fireworks, bursting of firecrackers, sale and storage of firecrackers during wedding ceremonies in the district. This step has been taken after the request of the SSP and in view of the security scenario and the warnings issued by the terrorists.

This will continue till further orders. The SSP said that at present people burst crackers in large quantities during the marriage ceremony season. This creates confusion among the security forces and the police as well as the common people whether a terrorist attack has taken place.

At the same time, due to the warning of the terrorists, there may be hindrance in the security forces to take immediate action in the coming days. Under the order, Poonch and Surankote municipalities have also been ordered to use the media to convey this order to the masses.

It may be noted that after receiving information about suspicious sighting in Mohalla Purani Poonch on Wednesday, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Meanwhile, there was a suspicion of terrorist attack due to bursting of firecrackers at a wedding ceremony in Manganad village, near the city.

Due to this, the soldiers and officers of SOG reached Manganad village after wading through waist-high water in the strong current of Pulast river. People have welcomed this order of the District Magistrate.
