Police have arrested dozens of people, including BJP leaders, in connection with the violence that broke out over the alleged desecration of a religious flag in Jamshedpur. Regarding this, Union Minister Arjun Munda claimed on Friday that the arrest of BJP leaders in connection with the violence was politically motivated, as well as accused the administration of turning a small incident into an unpleasant one.

Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda visited Ghaghidih Central Jail and met BJP leader Abhay Singh, former district president of East Singhbhum and Sudhanshu Ojha, vice-president of the district committee. Speaking to the media, Union Minister Munda said that the arrest of BJP leaders and workers is politically motivated. We strongly condemn such incidents, but the administration’s approach should be fair and not under any pressure.

He alleged that among those arrested, there are many people who have nothing to do with the incident and are still being held from various places under political pressure. A total of 70 people, including two BJP leaders, have been arrested in connection with the violence in Shastri Nagar area on Sunday over alleged desecration of a religious flag.

Arjun Munda insisted that BJP workers were engaged in the task of nation building and his party would not allow injustice to be done to them. He further alleged that it was a minor incident, but the administration turned it into an untoward incident. Police said prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC are still in force in the area.
