Small-town romances have their own charm and significance and Bollywood has consistently done its bit to get us off that emotional jitter while striking the right chord. Ghalib Asad Bhopali’s Jogira Sara Ra Ra is a story that not only tickles your teeth but also makes you appreciate the core essence of a desi romantic comedy, which allows you to empathize with characters who are relatable.

Jogira Sara Ra Ra may not be a glitzy film with an extravagant production, but with a lively screenplay and effortless performances by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma, there is a comfortable level of worldliness. The story is funny, light-hearted, laced with perfect comic timing, and will definitely leave you itching for more.

The heart of the story revolves around Dimple (Neha Sharma), a young rebellious girl, who seeks the help of Jogi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a matchmaker, to get rid of her marriage. However, they find themselves caught in a web of unpredictable consequences. Despite helping Jogi find a solution, it is too important for both Dimple and her family to ignore the social implications and potential harm. All these situations arise with lots of twists and turns which are hilarious, and keep the viewers entertained throughout.

The entire film is well paced and balanced in quickly establishing the plot of the story. It begins with Neha entering a wedding, which is eventually caught by Nawazuddin. Their paths cross again as she prepares for her wedding. From plotting an accident to being kidnapped and captured, things keep building up for better or worse.

Nawazuddin, who is otherwise known for his content-driven films and compelling roles, allowed us to embrace a completely different side of him in this film. He dances around, wears vibrant outfits, falls in love, and fights bad guys, all with the heart of a teenager. It was a refreshing break to see him in a completely different avatar in every frame. Neha Sharma, on the other hand, is comfortable and plays Dimple with a lot of ease and poise. She adapts herself well to the character. I clearly feel that Bollywood and commercial films haven’t utilized her enough as she definitely brings a charm that resonates with the young audience.

The on-screen chemistry between Nawazuddin and Neha is palpable, and they sizzle every frame. They balance each other out well and yet deliver great performances individually as well.

Another stellar performance in the film has to be from Sanjay Mishra. His on-screen energy and dialogue delivery are effortless, and his sarcasm comes off right. Zarina Wahab also brings the right sense of credibility to her part. The writers have done a great job of playing with the characters.

Jogira Sara Ra Ra looked very relevant to its roots. The film beautifully captures the charm of the small town, the people and interactions of the people there and the social norms. Peppy musical numbers are a delightful add-on.

On the whole, JOGIRA SARA RA RA is a surprisingly refreshing film. It has a family friendly script and has all the elements of a typical Bollywood entertainer. It is a one time watch and can actually be enjoyed in the theater without being deterred by the 2 hour run time. And indeed the film delivers a valuable message and one that must always be believed – finding a true connection and love happens in the most unexpected of ways.
