In her interview, Priyanka had said that even after doing nearly 60 films, she never got pay parity in Bollywood. She said that she was paid around 10 per cent of what a male actor would get.
Kangana agreed with Priyanka’s statement and claimed that she was the first female actress to fight for equal pay while most of her A-list contemporaries worked for free and were offered other favors as well. She also claimed that she is the only female actor in the Hindi film industry who is paid at par with male actors.
“It is true that women before me only submit to these patriarchal norms… I was the first woman to fight for pay equality and the most disgusting thing I encountered while doing so was that my contemporaries worked the same roles for free offered to do what I was negotiating for… I can say with confidence that most A listers (women) do movies for free with offers of other favors because they are afraid that the roles will go to the right people … and then cleverly release articles that she is the highest paid ha ha … everyone in the film industry knows I am paid only like male actors and no one else … And they have nobody else to blame in the least…” Kangana written on Instagram,
Talking about the work front, Kangana will be seen in Emergency. She also has Tejas, Chandramukhi 2 and Manikarnika: The Queen of Didda lined up.
