Hung assembly in 5 out of 10 exit polls

It is not clear from the exit polls and voting pattern that whose government will be formed. Talking about exit polls, 5 out of 10 have predicted a hung assembly. In four, the Congress has been declared the largest party and in one, the BJP.

After the record voting, nothing is clear even from its pattern. Congress, BJP, JDS are claiming their respective victories. So far 14 assembly elections have been held in the state. Voting percentage increased in 8 elections, in which Congress returned to power only once in 1962. At the same time, the vote percentage remained low in five elections, in which the BJP returned to power once.

Now all eyes are on the counting of votes to be held today. The counting will start at 8 am. By afternoon the picture of the government will be clear.

Tight security arrangements have been made in Karnataka before counting. Police personnel deployed at Gulbarga University campus in Kalaburagi.

There was no repeat of power in the state for 38 years
There has not been a repeat of power in the state for 38 years. The last time the Janata Party led by Ramakrishna Hegde won an election while in power was in 1985. At the same time, out of the last five elections (1999, 2004, 2008, 2013 and 2018), a single party got majority only twice (1999, 2013). BJP became the single largest party in 2004, 2008, 2018. He formed the government with external support.

73.19% voting for the first time, 1% more than the last election
On May 10, 5.13 crore voters cast their votes for 2,615 candidates for 224 seats. According to the Election Commission, 73.19% voter turnout has been recorded in Karnataka. This is the highest in the electoral history of the state after 1957.

Exit poll is also not clear… Know who got how many seats

According to Poll of Polls, BJP 91, Congress 108, JDS 22 and others are expected to get 3 seats.

The fate of many big faces is at stake, including 4 CM faces
In this election, the political future of many big faces of BJP and Congress is at stake. Congress’s Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, BJP’s Basavaraj Bommai are the main faces. If his party wins the election, he can become the CM.

At the same time, it is also a very important election for Yeddyurappa from BJP and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Kharge has a test as Congress President. If he manages to form the Congress government, his stature in the party will increase. At the same time, BJP has trusted Yeddyurappa the most after PM Modi.

BJP did not have majority in 2018… still formed government

In 2018, BJP had won 104 seats, Congress 78 and JDS 37. No party got majority. Yeddyurappa from BJP was sworn in as Chief Minister on 17 May, but resigned on 23 May due to not being able to prove his majority in the House. After this Congress-JDS coalition government was formed.

After 14 months, the politics of Karnataka again took a turn. Kumaraswamy had to leave the chair after the rebellion of some Congress and JDS MLAs. Yeddyurappa merged these rebels with the BJP and on 26 July 2019, with the support of 119 MLAs, he again became the chief minister, but resigned after two years. The BJP made Basavaraj Bommai the Chief Minister.
