Bengaluru: State Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police (DG and IGP) Praveen Sood suspended on tuesday Police Inspector Praveen Kfor collusion Manjunath alias Santro Raviwho had come under the scanner after audio tapes went viral of him promising lucrative postings to police officers citing proximity to some ministers for pursuing a fake case against two women.
Praveen, who was earlier Inspector of Police-Cottonpet police station, was transferred to City Intelligence and is yet to report for duty at the new post.
A woman had earlier this month lodged a complaint against Centro Ravi with the Mysore police for rape and blackmail. In the complaint, she had told how Ravi managed to get the Cottonpet police to register a false case against her and arrest her and her sister.
Sources said Praveen’s suspension was based on the report made by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-West-Laxman Nimbargi against Praveen.
“After being transferred from Cottonpet police station on November 30, Praveen did not appear for the new post, neither under the city police commissioner, nor under the intelligence officers. Officially, there was no senior IPS officer above Praveen. In such a situation, the DG-IGP of the state will take action.
According to sources, a report submitted by Laxman Nimbargi to DG-IGP Sood reveals how Santro Ravi and suspended Inspector Praveen perpetrated a crime which was not committed, presented false witnesses and implicated women in false cases, Which was recorded on 24 November. Cottonpet Police Station.
An FIR was registered against the women under IPC 397 (attempt to commit robbery, or dacoity, causing death or grievous hurt).
In the FIR, it was stated that two women, who had taken a loan of five lakh rupees from a city-based man, attacked and robbed them of their valuables when they came to visit Majestic. Now, the report against Praveen states that the contents of the entire FIR were fake and that Praveen acted on the instructions of Santro Ravi.
