Khan: Imran Khan’s politics is defined by ‘false lies’, says Pakistan PM Shehbaz after PTI leader’s arrest – Times of India

Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Imran khanOn Tuesday, following Khan’s arrest, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan’s politics is defined by “false lies” and attacks on institutions.
He said he has no doubt that Imran Khan’s politics is defined by “false lies,” “untruths,” U-turns, and vicious attacks on institutions. “Bending the judiciary to your whims and behaving as if the rules don’t apply to you. What I said about you in my tweet is proved by the facts of the last few years,” he said in a tweet.
In the wake of Imran Khan’s arrest, the Prime Minister made a series of tweets against Sharif in response to two questions from the former PM. Earlier on May 8, Khan had asked Sharif if he could name those responsible for the assassination against him.
Khan had tweeted, “As a person who has had 2 assassination attempts on his life in the last few months, may I dare to ask the SS the following questions: 1. Should I, a civilian, Right to nominate people who I think were responsible for the murder.” attack me? why i was rejected legal and constitutional rights.”
Sharif responded to Khan’s questions with four counter-questions, “One, defaming the Pakistan Army as an institution is a recurring pattern in your politics after you were ousted from power. Didn’t resort to constant mudslinging. Agency long before the Wazirabad attack?”
In his second question, the Prime Minister asked Khan what legal method did he choose other than making threats and making baseless allegations.
“You declined offers of cooperation from the federal government and boycotted legal proceedings. You were never interested in finding the truth about the attack but used the reprehensible incident for petty political purposes,” his tweet read.
PM Sharif also asked the PTI chief, ‘Three, at whose behest was the savage social media campaign against the martyrs of the armed forces launched after the helicopter crash? Which party belonged to the troll brigade that mocked the martyrs, which was a new low and unimaginable in our politics and culture? With these subversive/treacherous acts on your part, do we need an enemy?”
He also accused Khan of using religion for political purposes and against his party workers for condoning, justifying and even celebrating the incident of harassment of an official delegation, which included a lynching in a mosque. A woman minister was also involved.
“The four who have used religion for political purposes, describing the political movement in religious terms, is a cunning and selfish attempt to expose political opponents to violence at the hands of their supporters? Have your party leaders noticed this? Condemn, justify and not even celebrate the “incident of harassment and intimidation of an official delegation including a lady minister in the courtyard of our beloved Prophet’s Mosque (PBUH) by disregarding all norms of reverence and devotion?” his tweet added.
Prime Minister Sharif also advised Khan not to go to Pakistan, which the former Prime Minister referred to as a “jungle”.
As far as your claim of Pakistan being a ‘jungle’ is concerned, I advise you not to go there, as facts are often bitter and devastating. Let’s keep it for some other day.’
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, Khan was arrested by Rangers personnel of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) – acting on a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) warrant.
The PTI chairman was arrested as part of NAB’s probe into the Al-Qadir Trust case, ahead of his appearance before the IHC for bail in several FIRs registered against him.
