Hubli: A seven-storey building was built WHO As there was a shortage of rooms in the existing emergency unit at the hospital. It was to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi During his tour before the assembly elections. However, it was postponed due to some reasons.
Since the building was built using funds from both the central and state governments, it required approval from both. Due to the delay in the inauguration of the new facility, the patients coming from nearby districts for treatment are facing problems. Even though it has not been inaugurated, various emergency treatments including ICU and dialysis are being temporarily provided in the new building.
40 ICU beds and ventilators
KIMS Director Dr. Ramalingappa Antharani told TOI that the emergency unit has been built at a cost of Rs 28 crore under a grant from the central and state government. “The building will have a 40-bed emergency treatment and records section on the ground floor. There are 40 medical ICU beds and ventilators on the first floor.
“The construction work on the new emergency unit has been completed, and necessary facilities are being provided to treat the patients. However, the date of inauguration will be decided after discussing with the state and central governments.
