Mumbai: Maharashtra State election Commission (SEC) on Thursday put on hold elections to 92 city councils and four nagar panchayats in view of the hearing next week. OBC reservation before the Supreme Court.

Last year, the SC had set aside the OBC quota in local bodies in Maharashtra in the absence of empirical data about the backward class population in the state. Two days ago, the SEC had banned lotteries to decide other reservations in 25 Zilla Parishads and 284 Panchayat Samitis.
