Thane: Police has added a charge of gang rape to the case registered after the suicide of a girl from Dombivli. Thane DistrictOn June 12 in Kalyan area, an official gave this information on Monday.
Eight people have been arrested so far and they have now been charged with gang rape and other offenses under the IPC, Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act, an official of the Kolsevadi police station said.
Police had said that the teenager was sexually assaulted and the accused had made obscene pictures and videos to blackmail her.
An official said that her parents had found two notes in her mobile phone, which tells about the hardships she went through.
Meanwhile, a local Shiv Sena functionary, Asha Rasal, who is supporting the girl’s family in their quest for justice, and her husband were assaulted by unidentified men on Saturday night, following which a case was registered.
