Thane: The body of a 22-year-old man was found dead with a large rod in the lift duct of an under-construction building site of a prominent developer. Vartak Nagar areaThe police informed on Monday.
Police said the incident was reported late on Sunday night when they received a call about a man who was lying dead in the duct with an oversized body. iron rod pierced through his body. “The disaster management team and the fire brigade, which reached the spot late on Sunday night, had to cut iron rods to retrieve the body from the net. It looked like the body would have gone unnoticed for some time as it had started to decompose by the time we started the rescue operation,” informed Avinash Sawantregional head disaster management cell Feather Thane Corporation,
Vartak Nagar police station senior inspector Sadashiv Nikam said they were checking the credentials of the deceased to see if he was a genuine laborer deputed at the site. “We have so far registered a case of accidental death, but after getting the post-mortem report, we will investigate further,” he said.
