Mangaluru/ Udupi: A person was arrested on Saturday in connection with a theft case reported in the Moodbidri police station limits. The accused is Deekshith,27, from Bramhavar in Udupi district, who is currently residing in Bantwal. Police have recovered a gold ‘thali’ chain and mobile phone from the accused, and he has been produced before a court.City police commissioner Anupam Agrawal said the accused has cases lodged against him in Brahmavar and Manipal police stations.
Woman loses Rs 1.9L in online job fraud
A woman lost Rs 1.9 lakh in an online job fraud. In a complaint, the victim stated that when she was checking Facebook on January 7, she came across an advertisement about an online job, and decided to proceed further.
She chatted with a person on WhatsApp and later on the Telegram app. She then received a link and was asked to perform tasks. In the beginning, she received Rs 150 and Rs 200 for the tasks performed, and the next day, she was contacted and given details about trading.
On January 11, she allegedly transferred Rs 1.9 lakh to the account of Mahesh Jothee. The accused then demanded Rs 1.5 lakh, and promised to refund the entire amount. The victim stated that she was cheated and had transferred funds through a fake trading app. A case has been registered at the Manipal police station.
