Meta May Fire 6K Workers in Third Round of Job Cuts Next Week: Report

New Delhi: Meta (formerly Facebook) is reportedly going to start laying off more employees in its third round of job cuts next week. The layoffs will affect Meta’s business departments and could affect thousands of employees, Vox reports.

“There’s going to be a third wave next week. It affects everyone in the biz teams, including my org,” said Nick Clegg, META President of Global Affairs. ,Also Read: 10 Wedding Destinations In India With An Exotic Feel,

In March, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company planned to cut 10,000 jobs by the end of May after cutting 11,000 jobs in November last year.

The tech giant last month cut about 4,000 of the planned 10,000 positions, bringing the potential cut to nearly 6,000 positions. The report states that Meta will have around 86,000 employees at the end of 2022.

The ongoing layoffs at Meta are part of Zuckerberg’s plans for the “year of efficiency” in 2023. In April, Meta almost wiped out its team dedicated to combating misinformation.

Most of the team responsible for combating fake news on Facebook and Instagram has been sacked, according to ‘Command Line’ by The Verge’s Alex Heath.

“The size of the team was approximately 50 people,” the report said.
