The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday announced that it is seeking the identity of persons involved in the recent attack on the Indian High Commission in the UK. The NIA has issued a lookout notice and released photographs of 45 people who were responsible for vandalizing the High Commission in London and desecrating the Indian national flag back in March.

“REQUEST FOR IDENTIFICATION/INFORMATION These persons were involved in the attack on Indian High Commission, London on 19.03.23. They caused grievous hurt and dishonored the Indian National Flag. If anyone has any information about them, please WhatsApp/DM @+917290009373 (sic),” NIA wrote on Twitter.

NIA releases CCTV footage of Khalistani attack

Earlier on Monday (June 12), the NIA released over 2 hours of CCTV footage of an attempt by anti-national elements to sabotage the Indian High Commission in London, United Kingdom. The NIA has appealed to the public to provide information regarding the people seen in the CCTV footage to the agency in public interest.

The NIA has released the CCTV footage of the Khalistani attack, promising to keep the informer’s identity a secret, giving a WhatsApp number as well as seeking information on the saboteurs. Notably, a pro-Khalistan protester in London pulled down the Indian flag on March 19 after climbing onto the balcony of the Indian High Commission. A video of the same incident went viral on social media. In the viral video from that time, the Khalistani protester can be seen attempting to pull down the Indian flag on the balcony. At the end of the video, another person reaches the balcony from inside to save the flag from further damage.

On 19 March, the Indian community held a large gathering in front of the Indian High Commission in London against the “disrespectful act” of Khalistan supporters towards the Indian flag and demanded that London Mayor Sadiq Khan and the British government take action against the perpetrators. as soon as possible. The desecration of the Indian flag drew unprecedented support from the diverse Indian community settled here in Britain.

solidarity with indian flag

Emigrants from all over the UK traveled to London to express their solidarity with the Indian flag and with the unity of India. The gathering loudly rejected the idea of ​​Khalistan, saying there were no takers for it. A case was registered by the Delhi Police on 24 March in connection with the protest in front of the Indian High Commission in London on 19 March. On March 19, 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs asked the Delhi Police to take appropriate legal action.

It must be mentioned here that the senior-most UK diplomat was summoned to New Delhi after the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom was vandalized to express India’s strong protest over the actions by separatist and extremist elements.
