Nokia’s new premium phone boasts level level durability
The latest Nokia XR-series phone builds on the promise of extra durability but at a premium.
Nokia continues to ramp up its ambitions in the smartphone segment and the latest model is the Nokia XR21 which seeks to take smartphone durability to another level. The new phone comes with IP69K rating which makes it the most durable phone against dust and water in the market. The company has already launched several XR-series devices that focus on premium design and quality assurance. The 5G phone uses a Snapdragon chipset and supports fast charging.

The Nokia XR21 is priced at £499 (roughly Rs. 51,320) and will be available in the UK starting June. Nokia hasn’t shared details regarding its launch in markets like India.

The Nokia XR21 comes with an IP69K rating, which is one of the first to come with this level of durability. The phone also gets MIL-STD-810H military-grade which makes it extra sturdy. The 9K at the end of the IP69 rating highlights the device’s ability to withstand close-range, high-pressure and high-temperature water splashes.
The phone features a 6.49-inch LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate screen that can be used with wet hands and when you wear gloves. With Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, the screen should handle round-the-clock usage. It is powered by a Snapdragon 695 chipset and paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Nokia XR21 gets a dual rear camera system that houses a 64MP sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens.
The phone has a 4800mAh battery which supports 33W fast charging. Being a Nokia phone, it is surprising that it ships with Android 12 version out of the box. However, you will get three OS updates and four years of security updates. The latest XR phone is putting all its eggs in durability, so it will be interesting to see if people in the premium segment are ready to spend big on a mid-range phone with high-end durability.
