Earlier in the day, the Congress candidate, accompanied by party leaders, visited several temples, including Shri Bramha Baidarkala Kshetra Garadi in Kankanady, and offered special prayers. He then arrived at Sri Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple, made a special offering, and proceeded to the deputy commissioner’s office in a procession, to file his nomination papers. Padmaraj sought the blessings of veteran Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary, who arrived at the temple in a wheelchair.
Hundreds of Congress workers and supporters walked along, and supported Padmaraj and other leaders during the roadshow. He was accompanied by district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, senior party leaders B Ramanath Rai, Manjunath Bhandary and JR Lobo.
Dinesh Gundu Rao stated that all Congress leaders are united in fighting the election, and that there is no dissidence in the party.
He expressed confidence that Padmaraj would win the election. He accused the BJP of attempting to undermine democracy in the country, by conspiring to take control over the conduct of elections through illegal means.
“All issues, like the electoral bond scam, sending opposition leaders to jail, blackmailing them, and not providing drought relief, are before the people,” he said. The results of the 2023 assembly election were beyond expectation, said Rao, and he hoped that the parliamentary election result would also be on similar lines.
