Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a long note remembering artist of melody Mukesh on his 100th birth anniversary on Saturday.

Mukesh Chand MathurKnown by his stage name Mukesh, is considered to be one of the most famous and respected playback singers in the Bollywood industry.

Born in Delhi on July 22, 1923, Mukesh began his playback singing career in the 1940s and distinguished himself among many singing legends of his time with his soulful renditions.
He received several nominations and honors for the song “Kai Baar Yehi Dekha Hai” from the film Rajnigandha (1973), for which he won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

His musical association with great composers Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan and many more produced many unforgettable tunes.
Mukesh married Saral Trivedi, daughter of millionaire Raichand Trivedi. Mukesh and Saral are forced to elope as their marriage could not be consummated with the approval of Saral’s father.
