The AAP government is concerned about the large number of youth migrating abroad and also wants to improve the state’s representation in India’s prestigious central services like the IAS and IPS.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday announced that eight “ultra-modern” centers will be set up across the state to provide free coaching for the examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The AAP government is concerned about migration of youth to foreign shores in large numbers for better jobs, while it also wants to increase the state’s representation in the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service.

Mann chaired a high-level meeting where he expressed concern over the declining proportion of the state in central services, especially the examinations conducted by the UPSC. He said that despite huge talent, the youth of the state were unable to crack these exams as most of them wanted to go abroad and lack of quality training in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the state government was determined to reverse this trend, for which these eight coaching centers were being opened across Punjab. He said that these centers would provide free of cost quality training to clear the UPSC exam so that the youth of the state could serve the country in prestigious positions in the government.

Mann further said that Punjab has a proud heritage of producing excellent civil servants who have contributed significantly to the socio-economic development of the country. He said that this rich tradition has to be maintained in future as well, in which these centers will play an important role.

The CM said that the sole aim of opening these centers in the state is to ensure that Punjabi youths occupy high positions and serve the nation. He said that the training would be free for all the students.

Mann asked the officials to streamline the admission process in the coaching centers and hire professional as well as competent staff. He said that apart from ensuring regular training at these centres, the state government is also considering to start online training for UPSC aspirants. He said that along with training at these centres, the candidates would also get financial assistance from the state government.
