PM Modi took a jibe at India Block, said- ‘Trying to mislead people…’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi taunted the opposition on Tuesday alliance The Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) has dropped names like East India Company and Popular Front of India to emphasize that people cannot be deceived by the name of the country alone.

Addressing the parliamentary party meeting, he said that the frustrated and disappointed opposition has decided to continue with its current position.

He said, “It seems from the conduct of the opposition that they have decided to stay in the opposition. We have to work in the interest of the public and move forward.”

Sources close to the development said, the opposition parties are uniting in the name of their ‘India’, Modi hit back at them saying it was just an attempt to mislead the people.

Sources said that he named several organizations with the name ‘India’ to make it clear that having such a word in his nomenclature does not change anything.

Justifying the comments, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, PM Modi has given a statement that Indian National Congress, East India Company was founded by a foreign national. Today people are using names like Indian Mujahideen and Indian People’s Front. Anything taken at face value could really be different from the truth

BJP parliamentary party meeting

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday morning to chalk out a strategy for the monsoon session of the Lok Sabha.

The meeting was attended by PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

It was convened to discuss important organizational matters with the party parliamentarians

Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned on Monday amid uproar by the opposition demanding the Prime Minister’s statement on the violence in Manipur.

A similar ruckus was witnessed in the first two days of the monsoon session last week, due to which there was almost zero functioning in Parliament.

The monsoon session, which began on July 20 with a long list of legislative business on the agenda, has seen repeated adjournments due to opposition protests, sloganeering and uproar by members of the new opposition alliance demanding PM Modi’s statement on the situation in Manipur.
