Prayagraj: The Prayagraj division of North Central Railway (NCR) has earned Rs 64,48,820 in the three months (Dec to Feb) by selling platform tickets. During the same period, Rs 15,87,830 has been earned at Prayagraj Junction alone. At present the platform ticket costs Rs 10.
In past three months (Dec to Feb) 6,44,882 tickets were sold in Prayagraj division earning Rs 64,48,820 and during the same period in 2023, the division earned Rs 61,92,070 by sale of 6,19,207 tickets.
Almost one fourth of the income of all the stations of this division is generated by sale of platform tickets at Prayagraj Junction. While this year this station earned Rs 15,87,830 by selling 1,58,783 tickets in past three months, in 2023 during the same period Rs 15,11,150 revenue was generated with sale of 1,51, 115 platform tickets.
Till a few years ago, the platform ticket was of Rs 3, which was later increased to Rs 5. During the Covid period, the cost was increased to Rs 50 to reduce crowding at stations. However, later the cost was again reduced to Rs 10.
“In the name of improving the system at the stations, we have spread awareness about importance of platform ticket following which now people are buying platform tickets,” said public relation officer of Prayagraj division, Amit Singh.
