Delhi University on Saturday said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “sudden and unauthorised” visit to a men’s hostel has raised serious security concerns and DU authorities will ensure that such incidents do not recur.

Gandhi visited the Post Graduate Men’s Hostel on Friday.

He interacted with the students and had lunch with them.

DU said in a statement that the visit disrupted lunch for many inmates and raised serious security concerns for them. It said the hostel administration and guards informed the university authorities about it.

“Rahul Gandhi, along with several outsiders, without any prior notice, made a sudden and unauthorized entry into the PG Men’s Hostel at lunch time on 05/05/2023,” the university said.

“This disrupted the lunch of several inmates, who became angry with the chaos created by their entry with the crowd accompanying them. This entry poses serious security concerns for the inmates and leader of the hostel. University officials like Will take necessary steps to avoid it.” The varsity said it would look into the incidents of trespass and ensure that it does not happen again in future.
