Rallies, awareness campaigns, screening tests on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day in Visakhapatnam

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, awareness rallies, meetings and check-up camps were organized at various places in the city on Wednesday to detect oral cancer.

Special oral screening tests were conducted and medicines were distributed to the patients under the supervision of Dr. VVS Triveni, HOD, Department of Dental Surgery, King George Hospital (KGH). The participants were informed about the dangers of smoking, consumption of gutka and khaini.

Dr. Padmaja, Deputy Superintendent and Dr. Jagadish, RMO, were present.

HCG Cancer Centre, Vizag organized a Zumba fitness event at Beach Road to highlight the importance of maintaining physical fitness and adopting a smokeless lifestyle. Saplings were distributed to promote environmental sustainability.

Dr. P. Jagadishwara Rao, District Medical & Health Officer, M. Rama Rao, Joint Labor Commissioner, and Vijay Bhaskar, Regional Commissioner-1, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) participated.

Participants took a pledge against smoking, showing their commitment to a healthy, smoke-free future.

World No Tobacco Day aims to educate individuals, communities and policy makers about the dangers and inspire action towards healthier alternatives through public education and awareness.
