Residents upset as prolonged power failure affects water supply in many areas Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Frequent and prolonged power cuts are not only giving people a tough time and sleepless nights, but also affecting water supply in several areas of the city over the last few days.
People living in areas like Mahanagar, Aliganj, Telibagh, Krishnanagar and Jankipuram are facing widespread water crisis due to inadequate power supply to pumping stations.
In Peeli Colony, Mahanagar, an estimated population of around 25,000 people was deprived of water supply for over 12 hours past midnight.
“Electricity and water are needed during the summer season and we are being denied both. Strict action should be taken on this matter,” said Saurabh Shukla From Mahanagar.
However, the supply was restored late Sunday evening.
Jankipuram-Resident fame Rastogi shared how frequent cuts and low voltage make it difficult for them to get their quota of water supply. “I usually turn on the water pump after coming home from office at night. But, these days it has become a tough test.
Piyush Sinha of Telibagh said, “I pay my bills on time so why do I have to suffer for my basic amenities, improvement in these areas is so important.”
Water department officials said that intermittent power supply is affecting the machinery.
An officer said, “On Sunday morning, a motor of our department in Aliganj developed a fault.”
Executive Engineer Aliganj Jalkal Manoj Shukla said that since last 13-14 hours there is intermittent power supply interruption, so motors are not able to supply water continuously and causing low pressure. As a result, many areas are affected. We are talking to the electricity department to solve the problem at the earliest.
