Selected Children’s Writings Now Part Of School Wiki | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

Thiruvananthapuram: School Wiki, a collaborative digital platform for all schools in Kerala, is getting filled with evidence of the progress made in developing children’s language skills through various activities implemented in class I this year.
Last month, KITE launched a new section called ‘Kunjezhuthukal’ (creative writings by kids) on School Wiki to preserve and document the diaries, stories, picture stories, and experiences of first graders.
In the first phase, one selected piece of writing from each child is included. The teachers themselves select the writings that the children have included in their notebooks or diaries and add them to the School Wiki.
Within a month of the project being announced, as many as 1,01,062 creations were made available in the public domain via www.schoolwiki.in.
Kunjezhuthukal facilitates an opportunity for the general public to understand the benefits of language learning through the method of presentation of ideas through School Wiki.
It is the first time in India that the creative writings of first graders are being collected and preserved in digital format.
During Covid-19 times, KITE had devised a similar programme titled Akshara Vriksham (tree of alphabets), wherein 56,399 creative contents prepared by students of class I to XII were uploaded in School Wiki, which were aimed at creating a long-lasting memory of overcoming the struggles during that period.
“KITE started this unique initiative after noticing 146 children of class I in SDV UPS, Neerkunnam, Alappuzha, becoming independent writers and readers and having published 146 collections of stories. KITE will facilitate the uploading of children’s writings until March 27,”, said K Anvar Sadath, CEO, KITE.
