LUDHIANA: On the directions of District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney to take strict action against those violating Model Code of Conduct, seven notices were issued to political parties for violation of the poll code in the Ludhiana on Thursday.
Three notices were issued to AAP and two of each notice were served to Congress and BJP on Thursday by AROs, said an official statement.
As per details, Assistant Returning Officer Ludhiana East-cum Joint MC Commissioner Chetan Bunger issued two notices to the AAP while one of each notice to Congress and BJP. Bunger said that various flying squads had detected unauthorized banners/posters in the areas falling under Ludhiana East constituency belonging to their parties. Further, these banners/posters were also not carrying name of the printers. He said that it was a clear violation of MCC and guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Bunger asked the parties to submit the reply within the stipulated timeframe of 24-hours otherwise action proceedings would be initiated. “Notices have been served to the parties under section 127 (1), (2 (a) (b) of The Representation of the People Act, 1951” said a statement.
Similarly, ARO North-cum-EO GLADA Ankur Mohindroo also “issued” three notices to each of the AAP, Indian National Congress and BJP for the violation of the MCC. “The notices have been served to the district presidents of the parties and asked to give reply within 24-hours” said that statement.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney said that the administration was committed to holding free, fair, transparent and peaceful Lok Sabha Polls in Ludhiana- District Election Officer and directed all AROs to ensure strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct during elections.
