Soon, 30 street vending zones in imported areas, license for 100 | Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) is planning to identify 30 areas for street vending zones. Initially total 100 Street vendors Licenses will be given to operate in the six areas identified in the IMT sectors on a pilot basis.
The decision was taken on Thursday in a meeting of the town vending committee of the civic body, which was chaired by the MCM commissioner. Sahil Gupta, “The vending zones will be identified as per the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014. Apart from an organized sector to work in, the move will also provide livelihood to street vendors. The zone will also have facilities like toilets, parking and drinking water,” said Gupta.
He directed the officers to assign areas to the existing street vendors only near their present areas of operation. He also asked the MCM and HSIIDC officials to conduct joint visits and identify street vending zones. In the meeting, City Project Officer (CPO) Mahendra Singh said that street vendors can get a working capital loan of Rs 10,000 for a period of one year under the PM Swanidhi scheme.
Repayment can be done in monthly installments. Street vendors were also present in the meeting. MCM officials said that once the vendors get designated vending zones, the issue of encroachment will automatically be resolved.
Gurgaon currently has a total of 280 street vending zones and around 9,000 street vendors are registered by the MCG, out of which 7,931 had registered under the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Yojana.
The license renewal fee for street vendors in Gurgaon is Rs 500 and the monthly rent is also fixed at Rs 500.
