How has been the experience of Cannes so far?

To beat Cannes for the first time for a film I’m a part of was amazing. From iconic people to incredible movies, it’s incredible here… Being here is a dream come true.

What is the most surprising part of the Cannes experience?

The most amazing thing about Cannes is to see these beautiful people, see what they’re wearing. I just want to park my seat in the hotel lobby and watch everyone leave. Although it will sound strange (laughs). But the tourists who come here in Cannes are only so attractive to watch.

Have you been able to watch any movies there?

‘Cause I’m here to represent my film Kennedy, my director Anurag Kashyapmy co-star Rahul Bhatt And I am giving non-stop interviews, photoshoots and all that. So no, of course, I haven’t seen any movie other than my own. But I hope I can at least catch some of the more talked about movies.

There is a tremendous buzz about the film.

I am very happy to hear this. Being a part of this wonderful film means a lot to me. Everyone has worked hard in this. And until then it was wonderful to be a part of it. Then when I found out we were taking the film to Cannes, my excitement doubled or tripled.

What does this experience really mean to you?

I can’t believe I’m at Cannes for my film! Its significance is well and beyond my wildest dreams.

How do you see the future from here?

The main goal is to take it step by step from here (laughs). There are moments here that are tremendous. But as far as being overwhelmed is concerned, I am here to represent a film and you have to see it as work. Every day is a unique experience here in Cannes as far as meeting new people is concerned. But other than that, it feels like a promotional campaign for any film, whether you are in Cannes or Mumbai, it doesn’t matter where you are talking about your film. Of course the importance of location and publicity is widely lavish in Cannes.

Does the enormity of it strike you?

There are moments when I pass out from insane anxiety. You just have to get over it. Give yourself a pep talk and tell yourself to go.

It is being said that gowns have become a trend in Cannes more than films?

From my point of view, Cannes is mainly about the movies, and I think we will have a lot of celebrities coming to the movies and walking the red carpet. All of them will have a different agenda. Plus it all goes together, beautiful gowns and beautiful movies.

Which is your favorite part of the Cannes Film Festival?

It is exciting to see who is wearing what in your film. Hopefully they will watch your movie and not exit after entering. It should not happen. I think there is a special charm to coming to Cannes. If you can understand the purpose of Cannes and make it a sartorial and intellectual experience, you’ve got it right.

As for you?

As far as I am concerned, I have a beautiful film and I have beautiful clothes. And I love walking the red carpet. I love being a part of the various festive events here. They make me feel lucky.
