Hyderabad: An angry boyfriend attacked a software engineer of a multinational company with a knife in Narsingi on Tuesday night. The 27-year-old accused, who is the maternal uncle of the 22-year-old woman, works as a food delivery executive in the city. It was the accused who himself alerted the police after assaulting the woman.
At 9.40 pm on Tuesday night, a patrolling team of Narsingi police was informed by Gachibowli police about a woman being stabbed by a man behind Tea Grill Hotel in Puppalaguda. Constable B Satish and home guard Ramesh reached the spot and found a woman lying in a pool of blood. The alleged assailant was also present on the spot. Police took the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment and took the culprit into custody.
The woman, who lives in a hostel in Gachibowli’s Indira Nagar, told the police that they were both from Andhra Pradesh and she had earlier rejected her uncle’s marriage proposal.
Police said that on Tuesday night, the accused went to the hostel of the woman and took her on his bike saying that he wanted to talk to her about personal matters. He stopped the car behind Tea Grill Hotel in Puppalaguda and proposed to her again. Police said the victim once again rejected the offer.
“Suspecting that she was in love with someone else, the accused took out a knife from his bag and attacked her. He suffered multiple injuries on his neck, cheeks and hands. He is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition is out of danger,” Narsingi Inspector V Shiv Kumar Said.
The accused has been arrested under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder).
