Thane: A special Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) court has acquitted six people after the prosecution failed to prove the charges. Those acquitted include 27-year-old Sagar Wagh alias Mhatarya. Deepak Bhalerao26, Sunny Dalvi27, mukesh kumar goud29, Rajesh Rajput31, and Durgesh Warghade, 33. The prosecution stated that on July 18, 2016, the accused went to a vegetable market in Kalwa with weapons and asked for a week. Judge AM Shete observed, “..at least with the complaint of a vegetable vendor, in the absence of any independent witness, the prosecution’s version appears to be suspect.” The judge further observed, “…the evidence brought on record cannot be said to be sufficient to establish that the prosecution witnesses were able to prove the charges beyond all reasonable doubt.” – Nishikant Karlikar
