Chikkaballapur: Thanks to the efforts of a maths teacher, the student strength of the government high school at Adagal in Mandical Hobli of Chikkaballapur taluk has more than doubled in three years. He spends Rs 12,000 every month to provide transport facility to around 40 students.
Three years ago there were 50 students in the school. Its teachers conducted surveys in neighboring villages and found that many children were not enrolling in their institution as there was no proper transport facility from about seven villages to Adagal. During the admission time, the teachers urged the parents of these villages to get their children admitted to the school and promised to arrange proper transport facilities.
The school’s mathematics teacher, who did not want to be identified, undertook to keep the promise. He first arranged an autorickshaw to pick and drop the students and when the number increased, he took a bigger tempo to carry the children.
After three years, there are 132 students on the school list. MunikrishnaA member of the school development and monitoring committee of Goramidalahalli village, whose daughter studies in Class 9 in the school, said that since there was no proper transport, many villagers would put off their children’s studies, but thanks to the maths teacher, almost 25 girls are studying.
Munikrishna said SDMC Trying to find a philanthropist who can donate a bus to the school so that more students can be admitted. He said that several representations were given to the authorities to provide bus service as per the school timings, but no response has been received so far.
The maths teacher said he has raised the issue with the newly elected Chikkaballapur MLA Pradeep Eshwarwho has promised to take measures to provide KSRTC Bus service as per school timings.
