TMC workers and rival faction clash in Kolkata

West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress workers and a rival group clashed at Beleghata in the northern part of Kolkata on Sunday (April 30), officials said.

A party office was allegedly vandalized in the clash, he said.

TMC MLA Paresh Pal, who visited the area after the incident, said the matter is being resolved and the situation is now under control.

Local TMC leader Raju Naskar alleged that some party workers, who had recently switched sides from the BJP, were creating unrest in the area.

“They ransacked my office and car and beat up party workers,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, Alok Das of the rival faction alleged that Mr Naskar’s loyalists attacked one of his supporters with firearms on Saturday night.

Adequate security personnel have been deployed in the area and the situation is “peaceful” at present, a police official said.
