Twitter introduced new features in DM, will soon launch voice, video chat

New Delhi: Twitter is set to bring some significant changes to its direct messaging (DM) feature, including the inclusion of encrypted DMs, according to tweets by the company and its CEO Elon Musk.

Twitter has launched two new features in DMs – DM Reply and a new emoji picker for DMs.

As detailed in a tweet from the company’s support account on Tuesday, with DM Reply, users can now reply to any message they receive in DMs, making conversations smoother and more spontaneous.

The company also added “a new emoji picker to DMs, so you can react to messages with a wider range of emoji than ever.”

In addition, Musk also tweeted saying, “With the latest version of the app, you can reply to any message in a thread (not just the most recent) and use any emoji reaction.”

He further said that the release of EncryptedDM version 1.0 should happen on Wednesday, and assured that it will be refined rapidly.

He said, “The acid test is that even if I had a gun pointed at my head, I would not have been able to see your DM.”

Furthermore, Musk revealed that Twitter will soon let users do voice and video chats on the platform.

“Soon your handle will be voice and video chat with anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving out your phone number,” he added.
