Prayagraj: Police claimed to have busted an inter-district chain snatcher gang and arrested its two key members on Sunday Ali Hussain alias monu And Mohd FaiziAkbarpur Pura of Kareli region is a resident of Bagiya of Manohardas. The police also seized three smart phones, a purse, a gold chain, a pair of gold earrings, a gold nose ring and Rs 1350 in cash from their possession.
Two bike-borne chain snatchers snatched chain and other valuables from a woman near Atala area under Khuldabad police station limits on Saturday evening when she was going somewhere in an e-rickshaw, police said. An FIR was registered under IPC section 392 following the incident.
Police said the CCTV footage helped them ascertain the identity of the snatchers involved in the incident. The looted gold ornaments and cash were recovered from their houses in Kareli. Police said they are on the lookout for other gang members. Police said that several cases were registered against the arrested snatchers in various police stations of the city including Colonelganj, Kareli, Civil Lines and Shahganj. news network
