US says Russia's termination of Ukraine grain export deal 'irrational'

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Russia was “weaponizing food” by leaving the grain deal.

Washington:

The United States on Monday slammed Russia’s decision to pull out of a deal to safely export grain from war-torn Ukraine as “irrational” and said it would drive up food prices for the world’s hungry.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “Russia’s action to weaponize food today will result in food becoming harder to find in places where it is most needed and prices rising.”

“The main thing is that it’s subliminal,” Blinken said.
