Utilizing Chamundi Funds for Development of Other Temples – Mysuru News | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: Mysuru MP Pratap Simmha on Sunday said he will appeal to the Mysuru district administration to utilize the ‘hundi’ (donation box) funds available with the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop the Chamundi Hills for the development of C category temples in the district.
Speaking to reporters, he stated that Rs 130 crore ‘hundi’ amount is available with the temple. A delegation led by Krishnaraja MLA TS Srivathsa will meet the DC soon to make an appeal in this regard, he said.
He stated that there is provision to use the hundi amount available with A grade temples for C grade temples. Many C grade temples are looking for urgent intervention, he said.
Law allows for the adoption of C grade temples by A grade temples. In Mysuru, many temples built by Maharajas and some others are waiting for conservation work. “Pujas have been stopped at many temples due to poor maintenance. Our idea is to support such temples with the Chamundi Temple ‘hundi’ money,” he said.
He also hit out at Congress leaders for their attitude towards the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. He stated that BJP leaders struggled for the construction of a grand temple for Lord Ram.
MLA TS Srivathsa was present on the occasion.
