TDP MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar has officially confirmed Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election in 2024. Get the latest insights into TDP’s political strategies and alliances as they gear up for the elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party have reached a “political understanding” for an alliance ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. This big announcement comes after the second round of talks between the stakeholders was held on Saturday at Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence.

“Andhra Pradesh has been destroyed badly. The BJP and the TDP coming together is a win-win situation for the country and the state,” former chief minister and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu told a group of reporters. The alliance will sweep the polls in Andhra Pradesh, he asserted, lashing out at the YSR Congress.

“I wholeheartedly welcome the decision of N Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan to join the NDA family. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji, BJP, TDP, and JSP are committed to the progress of the country and the upliftment of the state and people of Andhra Pradesh,” BJP National President JP Nadda said in a post on X.

‘Modalities of Seat Sharing’

The three parties sealed their alliance following a second round of talks involving their senior leaders on Saturday. Sources told news agency PTI that BJP and the Jana Sena may together contest around eight and 30 Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP will contest the remaining 17 Lok Sabha and 145 Assembly seats, they said, adding that an official announcement will soon be made. The BJP may contest around six Lok Sabha and an equal number of Assembly seats in the southern state, the report said.

“The BJP and TDP have a very old relationship together. TDP joined NDA in 1996 and has worked together successfully in Atal Ji’s and Narendra Modi Ji’ government. In 2014, the TDP and the BJP fought the Lok Sabha election and assembly election together,” BJP said in a statement. “The modalities of seat sharing will be deliberated within a day or two. We hope that the alliance will come up to the expectation of the people of Andhra Pradesh with their wholehearted support of people at large.”

The Lok Sabha and Assembly polls will be held simultaneously in Andhra Pradesh. TDP’s Naidu and Jana Sena chief Kalyan met Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda in Delhi on Thursday night. Rebel YSR Congress Party MP K Raghu Rama Krishna Raju said the BJP-TDP alliance will soon be officially announced and called the coming together of the BJP, TDP, and Jana Sena Party essential to rid the state of the “devil” ruling it in an apparent jibe at Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy-led party.
