WhatsApp developing fresh floating action buttons: What it could look like – Times of India

Meta-owned popular instant messaging service WhatsApp is reportedly developing a redesign for yet another new feature for its users. The company has rolled out the latest version (2.23.12.15) through the Google Play beta program. With this new update, WhatsApp is working on a redesigned floating action button. This button is expected to be made available to beta testers with an upcoming update to the app.

The report shared screenshots to show how WhatsApp is planning to redesign the floating action button. According to the report, with the new button, users will be able to start a new chat quickly. The redesigned button follows suit material design 3 guidelines that appear square with slightly rounded edges.
The redesign will not be limited to floating action buttons, but will also apply to those buttons within calls and status tabs, report notes.
WhatsApp plans to redesign the entire app
Many users have reportedly requested a redesign of the app for a long time. Earlier, WhatsApp started rolling out a redesigned interface with a bottom navigation bar. This new interface is currently in a gradual release and it suggests that the company plans to redesign the entire app.

Another previous update announced a new style for the toggles that follows the Material Design 3 guidelines. This shows that the company is redesigning the app as per the Material Design 3 guidelines.
