Vikrant Massey and Sara Ali Khan had worked together in ‘Gaslight‘ which had released on OTT. It also starred Chitrangada Singh. While they were promoting their movie together, Vikrant had admitted that he thought of Sara as just another star kid who is only interested in hair and make-up and doesn’t know acting. He later apologised to Sara for the same.This old video has now gone viral on Reddit, and netizens have strongly reacted to it!
Vikrant admitted that he had pre-conceived notions because too much nepotism talk was on at that point and he thought the same about Sara. The ‘12th Fail‘ star said during a chat with Film Companion, “Unfortunately, all of us have preconceived notions and there is a sense of understanding of, we’ve heard about it, nepotism and privilege. Especially in the last two or three years, it was right up there. Every conversation was about this. And I fell prey to that too! And a lot of what you end up believing also depends on the noise and people around you. A part of me did feel like, you know, star hai, popular star hai. The actor said that his opinion about Sara changed the minute he started working with her. Sara responded to it and said, “I’m used to this, a little bit. I understand where I come from, who I am. There are preconceived notions attached to it and that doesn’t bother me. What I appreciate is people being fluid and malleable enough to allow me the opportunity to change that preconceived notion.”
However, users on Reddit feel that Vikrant was made to apologise to Sara and he did not have to. A user on Reddit said, “This!! It’s so hurtful to even watch a guy who is there solely because of his talent is forced to apologize to the one who doesn’t even deserve to be seated with him!” Some users also came in defence and said, “how is he being “forced” to apologize? kuch bhi.”
