A day after withdrawing his decision to quit the party, Pawar said in his home town Baramati in Pune district that he would play a role in bringing the opposition parties together.

Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar said here on Saturday that a common minimum program of the opposition will be prepared before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

A day after withdrawing his decision to quit the party, Pawar said in his home town Baramati in Pune district that he would play a role in bringing the opposition parties together.

“In the next 10-11 months, there will be elections in many places….Leaders like Nitish Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal, Chandrashekhar Rao, Mamata Banerjee Trying to unite the opposition,” he told reporters.

“I will participate in bringing the opposition together by making a common minimum programme,” Pawar said.

Asked about rumors about senior NCP leader and his nephew Ajit Pawar’s plans, he said, “An atmosphere of confusion is being created about Ajit Pawar. There was talk that he would join the BJP, but has anything happened?” The NCP chief further said that Ajit Pawar is someone who likes to work on the ground, and there was no truth in speculation about him.

Earlier, on his arrival here, Pawar was welcomed by local NCP officials amidst sloganeering by the workers.

Party sources said he would meet local NCP leaders and workers before leaving for Solapur.

The 82-year-old leader on Friday withdrew his decision to quit as NCP president, three days after making a surprise announcement questioning efforts at opposition unity ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The veteran leader, known for his deft political maneuvering, said leaders of various political parties across the country requested him to continue as NCP president.

He said he could not insult the sentiments of his colleagues and party workers, who were insisting that he withdraw his decision.
