Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter) suffered a major outage on Thursday. Outage tracking website Downdetector.com noted that thousands of users worldwide were reporting problems accessing X.
The problems with X appear to have affected users of both the social media platform’s app and website. Downdetector’s data showed that 64% of users reported problems using the X app, while 29% of users reported problems using the X website.
The Downdetector data showed that over 70,000 people were affected by the outage, which was first reported at 10:43am on Thursday. According to a report by the Indian Express, the outage resulted in users seeing the message ‘Welcome to your timeline’ instead of the usual tweets. Our attempt to access X, resulted in the website reflecting the text ‘Welcome to X’, instead of the usual timeline which is shown to users.
