Two Ukrainian drones “buried and crashed” in Moscow: Russia

Two Ukrainian drones 'caught and crashed' in Moscow: Russia

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the drone strikes targeted “non-residential” buildings.

Moscow, Russia:

Russia said it foiled a Ukrainian “terrorist action” on Moscow early Monday, with the Russian capital’s mayor saying two drones had struck non-residential buildings in the city.

The attack came a day after Kiev vowed to “retaliate” for a Russian missile attack on the Black Sea port of Odessa.

“An attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist act using two drones in the region of the city of Moscow was foiled,” Russia’s Defense Ministry said.

“Two Ukrainian drones were downed and crashed. There were no casualties.”

TASS news agency reported that one drone crashed in Komsomolsky Prospekt near Russia’s Defense Ministry, while the other hit a business center on Likhacheva Street, one of Moscow’s main ring roads.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the drone strikes targeted “non-residential” buildings at around 4:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT).

He said emergency services were working at the scene and there were no reports of casualties.

RIA Novosti news agency posted a video of the business center showing some damage on the top of the high-rise building.

The road around it was closed.

Moscow has been hit by several drone attacks this year, including one on the Kremlin in May.

Earlier this month, Russia said it had shot down five Ukrainian drones that disrupted operations at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport.
